Location Guide
Family, Newborn & Couples Session Locations in Launceston & Northern Tasmania
Choosing the right location for your session is about so much more than finding a pretty backdrop.
The most meaningful photographs are often created in places that feel like you.
Whether that's the beach where your family spends summer afternoons, your favourite walking track, your backyard, or the home where you're currently navigating newborn cuddles and cold coffees, the location helps tell your story.
When you look back on your photos years from now, I want you to remember more than what the place looked like. I want you to remember how it felt.
My Biggest Tip?
When choosing a location, think about the places that naturally fit into your life.
Ask yourself:
Where do we spend time together?
What do we love doing as a family?
Is there a place that feels like "us"?
Where are our happiest memories made?
If your family loves beach days, let's head to the coast.
If your weekends are spent exploring walking tracks and nature reserves, let's document that.
If home is your favourite place to be, let's stay right there.
The most beautiful locations are often the ones that already hold meaning.

In-Home Sessions: The Heart of Your Story
Newborn Sessions
For newborn session, my favourite place will almost always be your home.
There is something incredibly special about documenting this season where it is actually happening. We can photograph your baby in their nursery, capture those tiny details you've spent months preparing, and document the little moments that make up these early days.
Of course, studio newborn sessions are also available and are a wonderful option if that's what feels right for your family.
Family sessions at home can be just as magical.
In fact, some of my favourite family galleries have been created in kitchens, living rooms, backyards, and hallways.
Children tend to feel relaxed and comfortable in their own environment, and that often leads to more natural moments.
We can document:
Baking together
Reading stories
Playing in the backyard
Gardening
Building Lego
Bedtime routines
Slow mornings at home
The beauty is that these photographs capture your family exactly as you are right now.
The Best Time for Photos
If you've been around here for a while, you've probably heard me talk about golden hour. The best light for outdoor sessions is usually around one hour before sunset.
This is when the light becomes soft, warm, and dreamy.
Think:
Golden rays
Sun-drenched skin
Beautiful glow
Soft shadows
Creamy colours
I know this can be tricky during Tasmanian daylight savings when sunset feels incredibly late, especially for little ones. But trust me when I say it is worth it.
